If you want to find the problem, you're going to have to do some troubleshooting on your system. Nonetheless, the product install, whether trial or retail, is not at fault. I can't suggest a damned thing sitting here hundreds or thousands of miles away with no clue about your machine. I'm a pretty fair troubleshooter when I am sitting in front of the machine, can browse the registry, see what services are running, see what startup programs are running, and can bring to bear the heavy artillery I have on the "Troubleshooting and Utilities" CD I carry to every client session when engaged for the purpose. The reason I could not offer a suggestion that would help is because it is impossible to know what in your configuration is at issue. So, I sync to the other machines and live with it.

I have tried to figure out how to remove the necessary components to correct the issue without trashing the VS install (which I must have), but have been unsuccessful to date. It is precisely the same for everyone who downloads it, and in fact is exactly the same as the full retail version. The point I was trying to make, which is still valid, is that the trial is the trial. If you read the messages, you will find that very few of them refer to the trial simply expiring after installation, as yours seems to have done. I downloaded the trial, which expires not in 30 days, but on the last day of the month following installation, and installed it around the 20th of the month. If this were an issue with the trial, everyone who downloaded it would experience the same problem, and they don't, or we would hear about it.
